Atkins is not only for the overweight!

I think it’s a shame that only overweight people read the Atkins’ Diet Revolution book because the lessons apply to a much wider audience. Take for instance all the kids on adderall for ADD or ADHD. Most of them do not have anything wrong with them other than hypoglycemia due to unhealthy eating habits. As Dr. Atkins pointed out, an unsteady blood sugar level can lead to a wide variety of symptoms including difficulty concentrating, poor memory, emotional outbursts and moodiness, boredom, fatigue, headaches, slow starting in the morning, even antisocial behavior. Low blood sugar can also cause physical symptoms of shakiness or sleepiness, allergies or sinus problems, abdominal bloating, cold hands and feet, blurred vision and excessive sweating. The list is even longer. I’m not saying these are sure signs of low blood sugar but if you suffer from many of them, even if you’re not overweight, you should look hard at your diet. Eating too many carbohydratess especially if they are the wrong kind (bread, pasta, sugar, potatoes and the like) and not enough protein and healthy fats is a prescription for hypoglycemia ad its effects not the least of which is a much higher incidence of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, arthritis and other diseases.
Healthy eating is for everyone!
