Detoxification

Detoxification is a natural and normal purification process that our bodies continuously employ to get rid of substances that are harmful to our continued health.
All the environmental toxins from the air we breathe, the water we drink and bathe in, the food we eat, the emotional stress that we are subjected to and the electromagnetic radiation that bombards us can remain inside the cells or intestinal tract too long and can accumulate to create a toxic burden. Harmful health consequences that can result include:
Obesity and Alzheimer’s disease risk

A recent study coming out of Johns Hopkins University found an association between obesity and Alzheimers disease and other forms of dementia. In a systematic review and analysis of studies looking at the association between measures of severity of obesity (waist circumference, skin-fold thickness) and dementia, a moderate association was found between obesity and risks for dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Significantly, all of the studies reviewed showed an increased risk of dementia with an increase in waist circumference or an increase in skin-fold thickness.
Obesity and Cancer

The results of a recent study add to the significant body of existing evidence linking overweight and obesity to increased health risks. A recent study confirmed the association between being overweight and cancer. Among postmenopausal women in the UK, 5% of all cancers (about 6000 annually) are attributable to being overweight or obese.
Iodine’s Importance to Vibrant Health

Iodine is truly amazing and yet an estimated 95% of people are deficient! Iodine is not only important for proper thyroid gland function, it is also important for receptor sensitivity of the other hormones, in other words it helps all the hormones work better. Iodine possesses antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, even anticarcinogenic properties. It can help with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibrocystic disease of the breast and breast cancer, ovarian cysts, autoimmune diseases, obesity and promotes the elimination of heavy metals including lead and mercury.
Go Ahead, Give her Chocolate!

Valentine’s Day is a great time to give the woman (or man) of your life the gift of chocolate and there are several good reasons to do just that! One reason is that dark chocolate (as opposed to milk chocolate) has high levels of special flavonoids—epicatechins—that are not only antioxidants but also act as modulators of hormone-like compounds in the body. These molecules are the reason many scientists feel dark chocolate has more health benefits than red wine, or even green tea.
Some information on GERD

Now that the holidays are upon us, you may find your stress level, which had been tolerable or low, increasing. You may be experiencing symptoms suggestive of GERD (gastroesphageal reflux disease)-heartburn, bleching, dysphagia, regurgitation, even chest pain. If you have gone to your doctor about these symptoms (and you should see her because it may be a symptom of serious heart disease) and had prilosec prescribed, there is a natural alternative.
Eating for your Eyes

As Americans age, they face more and more debilitating eye conditions, including severe cataracts and macular degeneration. But by eating certain vegetables, you may be able to reduce your risk for such health problems.
